Emerging neo-soul artist KELS reminds us everything Will “Be Fine” in her new single. The bright, uplifting track is made up of crisp guitar riffs, warm keys, and head-nodding drum grooves underpinned by her positive lyrics and heartfelt vocal performance. Her commanding vocal runs cut through the mix and rise to a plateau, as she embodies her positive disposition to the fullest. She is all about putting smiles on everyone’s faces and reassuring us with uplifting lyrics like “Think you can pay me with a hug, think you can rattle my mind up/ I ain’t got nothing but time love, I’m patient, I’m waiting, I’m doing my own work.” Overall, she is focused on the bright side of things because there will always be hard times, but the best way to go through them is to have a positive mindset.
Singer KELS was born to a military family in Germany and moved quite a lot as a child. She started writing her own songs at the age of 13, and was also involved in the church choir and later with jazz ensembles. Her debut EP Slow Ryde, was released in 2021 and recently she put out a series of live renditions of her own original music, while she works on bringing us more singles and probably a full-length project.
Most notably, “Just Let Me Go (Live at Kingfly Spirits)” gained over half a million views on Tik Tok. This summer, KELS will release a series of new singles set to cross genre boundaries and push her sound to new heights.
