Inspired by pop titans like Robyn, Perfume Genius and Christine and the Queens, alt-pop artist Metteson unveils the kaleidoscopic new single “Convince Me”. Taken from his brand new EP of the same name, the single pairs prismatic synths with an emotive narrative to create a track effusing a euphoric high.
Built with an ’80s glamour, the track’s synths produce an elegant backdrop in which Metteson layers his sugary vocals. The swirling melodies send its listener into a trance, soaking in all the glorious sounds glazed in technicolour. Metteson’s uniqueness is built within his work; drawing on inspiration from all the LGBTQ pop greats, his own releases capture a sweetness, an almost innocence that loops throughout. Of the EP, Matteson says: “‘Convince Me’ is my first EP, custom made for your ups and downs in the spring of our weird and wonderful year to come, 2021. I hope it tells a story of love and ambition, that’s inspiring to the limbs and pleasing to the ears.”
“Convince Me” offers a slice of bliss, a moment of pure euphoria. It’s a fantastic track that showcases his ever-growing pop expertise. If you want to hear more glorious alt-pop from Metteson, his EP is quite exquisite.
