NY’s finest connect as veteran emcee Rasheed Chappell and legendary producer Buckwild link up for a new banging cut “Black Owned.” The idea for the collaboration came after Chappell worked on Buckwild’s compilation LP, Fully Loaded. “Black Owned” delivers a healthy dose of dope bravado-laced rhymes over a menacing dark production showing a seamless connection between the two NY rap luminaries. Chappelle is in full shit-talking mode and doesn’t mince his words with, “Live on the set and when the riders connect/ never seen on affidavits but my name on the cheque,” while still keeping his cool delivery as the cinematic beat rides along.
The video is directed by Edwin Decena, a music video and independent film director who brings aboard his uniquely distinct vision for the song. The visuals take place in the gym and center heavily on Rasheed as a heavyweight rap champ. From the center of the boxing ring, the hard-hitting wordsmith delivers an onslaught of unapologetic lyrics over Buck’s neck-breaking production undoubtedly taking out any and all challengers.
The duo is gearing up for the Nov 20 release of their collaborative effort, Sinners & Saints. Pre-order it here. It is also available for pre-order through Bandcamp and Amazon Music, and on vinyl and CD formats courtesy of Get On Down.
