UK-based multi-faceted act Tamaraebi shares his new project titled Spectrum. The 6-track body of work comes after dropping a slew of singles including the sultry “Brown Angel” and its retro-inspired visuals. The project as the title suggests is about accepting one’s different views that may be different from others. Tamaraebi sure embodies that sentiment to the fullest as he explores a wide range of musical genres and gives the listener more than a handful to unfold on this EP.
The project opens up with the single “Brown Angel” which sets it off with sultry melodic runs and deep R&B/soul elements. “Telephone” goes for a pop/soft rock aesthetic and we hear the singer’s falsetto come into play as he channels the spirit of the 80s to full effect. Things go uphill as we get to “Waistline,” a sexy record that employs lush synth guitars with reggaeton top notes and bouncy rhythms that culminate in a mid-tempo summer jam. Tamaraebi’s airy vocals play central roles here as he belts out high notes over the breezy upbeat backdrop laid before him.
The EP turns down the energy levels towards the end with two mellow tracks. On “Serious” we get a moody, atmospheric song that takes pop/R&B and blends them with sparse trap drums which rises to a plateau on the heavy electric guitar-laden chorus. Tamaerebi expresses all his emotions on this love-lorn record where he tries to find out something pertinent. “Square One” follows similar terrain with its smooth acoustic guitars and ethereal production.
Spectrum plays to its strength and focuses on sensuality, self-expression, evocative lyrics on love, and genre bending aesthetics. The production is crisp, well-rounded and to top it off, Tamaraebi’s vocals are just out of this world and he is definitely one to watch as time progresses.
