Toronto-based band Teenanger have released title track “Good Time” from their forthcoming album. Taking aim at personal struggles with lyrical satire, “Good Time” is the track to get you through the rest of 2020.
Bright guitar riffs and a snappy rhythm section contrast the bitting, sarcasm-tinged lyrics of singer Chris Swimmings that take aim at the struggles he endured in 2019. Speaking on the track, Swimmings says the track is “a lyrical combat, if you will. Therapeutically writing about positives in life when I was being enveloped by darkness.”
The concept of ‘lyrical combat’ is extended into the accompanying visuals, where a bootleg Jack Black meets glam rock wrestler dances in the street, plays air bass on a garbage pile, and hip thrusts across the screen. The video meets the frantic energy and humor of the track in a way that feels goofy but relatable, and offers a final exciting glimpse into Teenanger’s forthcoming album.
