Example is a legend in not only the UK, but the global dance and hip-hop scene too. Platinum albums, chart-topping singles, headline festivals slots, and a lengthy stint releasing inescapable anthems that bridge the gap between electronic, rap, and pop are merely a couple of Example’s many career accolades.
Debuting his project in 2017, Moss has risen to become one of Australia’s most enchanting artists. Known for his bass-driven heaters, he has shared the stage with Skrillex, RL Grime, and Flosstradamus, to name a few. On top of his DJing skillset, Moss’s mind-bending sound design has been supported by Marshmello, Yellow Claw, and Jauz, with recognition from the top regional outlets of Rolling Stone AU and triple j.
Together, these two make an incredible team, bringing enormous energy in their most recent collab that also pairs as their debut on Monstercat, titled “Strictly 4 Tha”. Laced with a gritty rap vocal from Example, Moss expertly weaves in electrifying synth chords and thundering bass wubs to make this one really go off.
“From dark raves to a club stage, we made this tune for the underground – the place where dance music took shape and continues to thrive. After linking with Example at BIGSOUND, I pulled up this ID in the studio. He went wild on it, throwing bars until settling on this hella cheeky verse. We went back to our roots – bringing the rave to listeners with a record that’s ‘Strictly 4 Tha’ underground!” – Moss
Another aspect that truly makes this collaborative project unique, is that the cover art for “Strictly 4 Tha” was painted by Example himself. This graffiti-esque blend of eye-catching components proves that Example’s artistry extends beyond his music-making abilities.
“By chance, I caught a Moss show in Brisbane at a Spotify party. I hadn’t heard bass music as exciting as his for ages. We met afterward and instantly hit it off. It was awesome getting to know him as a person and at the same time we were creating music. Now, almost a year later, we have something really exciting to present in the form of ‘Strictly 4 Tha’. Bassheads around the world are gonna lose their shit!” – Example
