Salt Cathedral releases debut album “CARISMA”

Salt Cathedral released their anticipated debut album, a 10-track offering entitled CARISMA. Out via their home label since 2018, Ultra Music, the duo has made their long form debut with a collection true to their stile, with music done in both English and Spanish.

Of course, the bilingual nature of Salt Cathedral’s music is a product of their own story, from Juliana Ronderos and Nicolas Losada’s own experiences in Colombia and now, in Brooklyn. This music sits on the edges of too cool to be filed under pop and too easily consumable to be employed as just a product of the underground. Salt Cathedral’s mix of electronic and live elements, along with personal heritage, leaves you aware of your own circumstance, world music culture, and wondering why, when this is so great, why more people aren’t chasing this multicultural view of music. It’s wondrous, inquisitive, upbeat and danceable at times (“muévelo). And guarantee, “Te Quiero Olvidar,” one of the album’s singles, will stay in your had for days.

Since stepping out in 2013 the duo has released EPs like the self-released Oom Velt, singles including “Always There When I Need You,” and collaborations with Matisyahu (“Unraveling,”). Salt Cathedral recently joined EARMILK for a live performance from Brooklyn, which you can view here.
