ABSYTE and Marcus Machado share some thought provoking commentary in “Dont Say That”

Rapper and songwriter ABSYTE returns with another poignant offering titled “Dont Say That” which sees her teaming up with Marcus Machado. Over Rio‘s moody and funky production made up of choppy plucks and head-nodding drum grooves, ABSYTE delivers a resounding performance ripe with insightful thoughts on how this modern social commentary has shaped people’s views on life, especially religion and the concept of that messiah who is coming to turn things back around. ABSYTE however flips it and reminds us that change can only occur when we as a community do the work instead of wishing and hoping. She doesn’t mince her words and stamps the message on our brains with lines like “same solution that it’s been in the beginning / do the right thing cause, in the end, we all sinning / from the bottom to the top w/ same nicca grinnin’ / bamboozled is a skill for the sleeper still spinning”.

In summary, “Don’t Say That” attempts to discuss our fantasy mentality of deities, messiahs, superheroes and false idols in an attempt to unlock the understanding that sometimes the true hero of the story is us. No aliens, messiahs or superheroes are required, just us.
