Alt-pop band Younger Hunger releases new single “Day Traitor”

Tony Davia, Lucas Connor, and Beckett Edwards comprise the LA-based alt-pop band Younger Hunger. Dedicated to bringing their own unique artistic image to life, the band creates all their own artwork, design their own merch, direct their own music videos, and manage their own social media. They’re creative, independent, and ambitious. Today, the band once again proves those qualities truly set them apart from the rest as they share their newest single Day Traitor.”

The inspiration for the track comes after a conversation the band had with Rolling Stone Magazine back in 2020, about how independent musicians are creating content during the quarantine era and building connections with fans. Sonically, the track combines emo/punk with pop sensibility and a touch ’90s hip-hop drums. Davia’s fluid range of angsty, burning vocals to gentle airy croons seem reminiscent of Green Day or Gorillaz, and it matches well with the deep riffs and scratching guitar sounds.

Singer Tony Davia shares about the writing process, “‘Day Traitor’ was the first song written from this EP. Beckett made the cover art for it before the song was written, and I remember just staring at it for a while and then pulling out that main guitar riff from the song. After I made the demo I went on a walk and listened to it like 50 times on repeat, Then we took it to Zach (Fogarty) and he just took it to a different level sonically. All in all, my favorite YH song.” From that, we see how each member contributes to a track and how their minds and ideas all just bounce off one another.

“Day Traitor” is the second single off their forthcoming EP Crying In The Pit, so stay tuned for more details!
