New Zealand indie pop duo BROODS, comprised of brother and sister Georgia and Caleb Nott, have released their latest single, "Heartbreak," leading up to the release of their upcoming concept album, Space Island, due out February 18 via Island Records Australia/Ingrooves.
"Heartbreak" is the second visual piece of a three-part short film that's releasing leading up to Space Island, and is a groovy, subject matter-heavy track. Digging deep into the notion promised by its title, the track also pairs with the album's first single, "Piece Of My Mind," to continue a narrative on life's transitions, their difficulty, and ultimate transformative quality of grieving such change. With the ultimate lesson coming back to self reflection, such focus brings a deeper, learned quality to the song's sultry emotion, and scintillating accents. Somehow, "Heartbreak" manages to be catchy, upbeat, somber, and reflective all at once, expressed through funky indie pop and a mesmerizing animated video.
"Heartbreak" and the rest of Space Island will be the duo's first album release since 2018's Don't Feed The Pop Monster, and their fourth album to date.
