Authenticity is thrilling, especially when it’s displayed by others that you admire. Two artists that have openly admired each other for some time have finally linked up to work together: Floorplan has remixed Robyn‘s “Baby Forgive Me” from her 2018 album Honey. Rounding out nearly a year of sprawling remixes of nearly every track on the release.
Robyn has gushed about Floorplan’s influence on her music for years, and made things official with a heartfealt Instagram post. Father-daughter Detroit house duo Floorplan did the same via their Facebook page, completing the respect exchange for a pop icon and a house duo where legendary meets its next generation. Now, following Love Record Store Day, the special edition vinyl of the release is already sold out.

The original “Baby Forgive Me” saw its place in the Honey narrative as a song deep in the ups and downs of a relationship. Veiled in dreamy, angelic vocals draped with emotion, it played a part. Now, thanks to Floorplan, the track has a new setting complete with vintage melodic progressions and perfectly placed sax. There is still something uncanny left in “Baby Forgive Me,” displayed in the pitch and tone of the vocal in its new surroundings. Acknowledging that is what makes the listen so accomplishing to enjoy.
View this post on InstagramThis is a dream come true; Floorplan remixing my music. I remember when I heard ”Never Grow Old (Re-Plant)” the first time, to me there is something so pure about the arrangement of that piece of music. Floorplan is Robert Hood and Lyric Hood, I love that they make music together as father and daughter. My grandfather was a priest and the combination of seeing him preach in church and being with my parents when they were working in their theater when I was growing up gave me a glimpse into what holding space for other people can do. Thats what I hear in Floorplan’s music as well. Their remix of “Baby Forgive Me” is out now. Link in bio. Photo by @kevinlakephotography
