Multi-faceted Toronto-based artist Jaz Valentino shares visuals for his heartfelt single “Wild Weeds.” The somber record sees him working with Arcane Beats who laces him with a sparse moody piano riff, solemn strings, and soft drums to match Valentino’s genre-bending style. He delivers a mix of R&B, melodic rap, and indie pop, merging alluring melodies with poignant songwriting on this tune as he shares an uplifting message to the young people going through different tribulations every day. From the inflected melodies and layered harmonies, Valentino pours his heart out on wax and hopes his goodwill message will inspire and empower everyone battling inner demons and external obstacles.
The accompanying visuals also keep to the theme of the song and employ the use of slow-paced shots and seamless transitions between Valentino’s performance scenes with everyday people trying to find their way in this unforgiving world. The dark and moody lighting also adds a cinematic and heartwarming feel to the visual as well. “Wild Weeds” is the lead single from his forthcoming album Jaz’s Blues (Side A). The 8-track project is set for release on April 14.
