Larry June shares laid-back new visual for “Don’t Check Me”

Larry June has shared a fresh new visual for his track “Don’t Check Me”, which appears on his recent album Spaceships on the Blade.  On the new 20-track LP, which features Curren$y, Duckwrth, 2 Chainz, and more, “Don’t Check Me” makes for a standout cut, incorporating a retro yet refreshing sound that captures the feeling of summers in June’s home state of California. The accompanying visual enhances the track’s infectious warmth as well, containing engaging, saturated shots captured with a vintage filter.

The instrumental on “Don’t Check Me”, produced by DJ Fresh, harkens back to classic West Coast hip-hop positioned through a refreshingly modern lens. Elegant keys create a sense of triumph, laid atop a truly addictive rhythm section made up of unhurried, crisp percussion and driving bass. Atop the slick, balmy backdrop, June delivers cleverly written lines delivered in a laid-back delivery that matches the beat’s smooth energy, as he handles the instrumental in a commanding yet effortless fashion. The newly released video depicts the imagery of California in a clean and vibrant style, while utilizing a vintage filter to capture the track’s throwback feel. Capturing June’s sound in visual form, it makes for a highly cohesive accompaniment to the song.

“Don’t Check Me” appears on Larry June’s new album Spaceships on the Blade, which follows up his recent release 2 P’z in a Pod with Jay Worthy.
