Me Like Bees share new indie rock single and video “Radio”

Joplin based four-piece Me Like Bees create an upbeat indie rock escape with their new single “Radio”. The track is the first off single of the year and is in partnership with Honey Pit Music.

With “Radio”, Me Like Bees has created a song all about wanting to escape reality but ultimately learning how to cope with the hardships that can take place in life. Lyrics including, “It’s 4am outside my window / the streets are covered in blue / the sirens singing third time this weekend / I got a disco for a living room / I turn the radio on,” describes the simple pleasures in life that we gravitate to like music to try and retreat from unpleasant circumstances. Bright guitar notes, hard-hitting vocals and driving basslines thrill in this fervent and energetic indie rock anthem. Shades of synth pop, roots rock and even blues penetrate this unique sonic palate making for an enticing listen. In the accompanying music video, the intensity of the narrative can be felt through throbbing flashing lights and moody fast-paced cuts of scenes of various vintage radios.

Me Like Bees began in 2009 in Missouri by college dropout Pete Burton and former gas station attendance Luke Sheafer. The duo bonded over their shared influence of indie rock greats including The White Stripes, The Strokes, and Modest Mouse who would ultimately influence the band’s future releases. Bass player Jake Bennett joined the group as did drummer Ben Davis, completing the four-piece. “Radio” is the first of new music for the band in over two years.
