After breaking down the barriers with their introductory release titled “United Grind Cypher.” earlier this month, the Midwestern rap movement United Grind deliver the dynamic new visuals for their new hard-hitting single, “Give It Back,” ahead of the release of their highly anticipated debut compilation, Grind or Die (Vol. 1).
The song serves as the perfect introduction for anyone unfamiliar with the group or any of its six members—Ohio’s Vice Souletric and HiJinks and Detroit-based emcees Sand Man, Nu Face, Lee Harvey, and Juggernaut June. Bolstered by the gritty and wavy production from Grand Rapids, Michigan-based producer Big Shaady, we get to witness a pure display of lyricism from all the parties involved.
Lines like “Ask how I get into it/The fascination of me and music/inclusion of people waving hands and forming a fusion” show us the collective’s love for the art and they top it up with a tailor-made for hyping up the crowd during a live show. They all get their time to shine in these sleek visuals directed by Reel Dope Cinematic, who blends a minimal colour palette with sleek edits and subtle effects.
