Cardiff multi-instrumental quintet Red Telephone build on their signature blend of melodic psych and darkwave on upcoming sophomore album Delay The New Day. Led by the intricate stylings of the title track, the band showcases a glimpse of their expansive and cohesive artistry.
Delving into themes of indulgence and hedonistic distraction, the introspective and alluring anthem is driven by the five-piece’s delicate but powerful multi-instrumental musicality.
Framed by catchy melodies and poignant lyricism, the track unveils core theme of the album weaving through the journey and challenges of being creative. Speaking of the project, they say “It’s about the paranoia, doubt and dissolution that goes with the territory of pushing yourself and trying to carve out a path where you hopefully get to survive on what you love doing. Even songs on the album that aren’t directly about this still tie into the theme, for example, Delay the New Day, which is about indulgence and hedonistic distraction at the expense of creating.”
