Al Swainger’s Pointless Beauty drops versatile album ‘Hearts Full of Grace’

Bristol progressive-jazz act Al Swainger’s Pointless Beauty delivers expansive album Hearts Full of Grace, a collection of ten tracks showcasing a unique blend of jazz, electronica and progressive sounds, with catchy yet contemplative melodies at its heart.

Opening with the solid bassline of “The Way Back,” the album moves ahead with a strong sonic sensibilities of composer, producer, digital artist and multi-instrumentalist, Al Swainger. The production continues with a steady bass style of “Sunship Travelling,” which also highlights skilled guitar arrangements with a memorable solo from guitarist Ant Law.

Airy synths of “Relentless,” which brings forth reflections on the pros and cons of the role of technology in our lives moves into compelling, tightly crafted compositions such as the ambient textures of “Pause To Breathe,” and layers of distorted guitars and hazy trumpets of “Stir Crazy.”

With a broad sonic palette stretching across the full tracks, ending with the melodic pianos and uplifting vibes of  final track “Remember The Sky,” pulling us in with hypnotic delicacy while always keeping our ears perked up for tonal shifts.

A top-level jazz act with a fully established musical career, Swainger now leads Pointless Beauty with an unshakeable combination of natural talent and keen innovations, as Hearts Full of Graceoffers up a transportive experience.
