Releasing his new alternative rock track that brushes on the borders of hyperpop and psychedelic, is rising star Monét Ngo with his new single “Strawberry Fields,” a Vietnamese-American school teacher who is reaching for new heights. His music takes a new approach, with rock style chords that are distorted, vocal pitched and synthesised into a new blend of genres that stands out in a newly saturated genre of music.
Expressing feelings and emotion through a unique style and approach is what Monet Ngo is highly capable of and continues to demonstrate throughout his music. “Strawberry Fields” feels like a nostalgic 2000’s indie rock song, influenced with a modern twist of hyperpop elements that’s charmed with a profound meaning.
On the new single he writes, “Strawberry Fields is about a time in my life where I was living out of my car with my ex-girlfriend . We were in an unstable housing situation and had nowhere else to sleep except my 2004 Toyota Camry. In the song I reflect on these weird transitional periods in my life, finding myself wanting to go back to that time. The song pays homage to The Beatles “Strawberry Fields Forever” using strawberry fields as a metaphor for a memory that you hold deeply in your heart.”
