Vocab Slick shares brilliant new hip-hop project 'Language'

After sharing a handful of various releases the past few months, Bay Area's own Vocab Slick unleashes his full-length project Language. The 18 track project boasts guest appearances from the late Zion I (RIP), The Grouch, and Equipto among others with production handled by Rick Vargas, Starski, Surebert & Samera, HG Beats, Chef Boyz, Killa Traxz.

Language opens with the aptly titled track "Opening Remarks" where Vocab gives listeners a storytelling vocal breakdown of what to expect from him over a somber mellow backdrop. On "A.O.M" and “When I’m Here”  we get to hear Vocab's emotional side as he delivers thoughtful and evocative lyricism from the perspective of a man finding his footing in the world. On the former, he is solo while he is joined by vocalist Simone Mosley who kills the chorus, and fellow emcee Equipto who spits a sharp verse full of insights. The bass-heavy "Stay Focused"  details the mentality of the goal-oriented individual and sees Vocab trading bars with the late Zion I who leaves us with a solid verse filled with his unique blend of bravado and conscious rhymes.

The project keeps the heavy lyrical theme with previous releases such as the lyric dense "What It Is” and the soul searching "Find A Way" featuring The Grouch. Vocab also brings a similar tenacity to other standout cuts, including the bluesy and soulful "Atonement" and the dark aesthetics of "Welcome Machines." Overall, Language packs a punch with a core ethos of bringing listeners closer to the action at all times and acts as a lyrical triumph from an emcee who approaches his craft with raw honesty and love for the culture.
