Repeat EARMILK standout Bigg Z has indeed come a long way since dropping his debut album and trading bars with Slaughterhouse alum KXNG Crooked. His new single, "Piggy Bank," proves as much. An impressive follow-up to last year's God's Plan EP, "Piggy Bank" isn't about slotting change into plastic swine or fanning yourself with blue hundreds, but rather a salute to the grit and grime of the come-up (which, yes, does involve some paper stacking).
On "Piggy Bank," producer D’Artizt sets up the account and Bigg Z deposits cash money punchlines that would make JG Wentworth proud. Z flashes his technical savvy throughout, weaving in and out of the syncopated beat with whatever cadence he sees fit, culminating in a slowed-down, layered hook exemplifying his hunger to generate wealth all on his own—hard work, no handouts. Z also sprinkles some storytelling into his bars by briefly mentioning his "broke days" and how his mindset is different this time around. Certainly more depth here than your average all-about-the-Benjamins anthem.
"Piggy Bank" is definitely a worthwhile investment and beats watching Kodak Black throw $100K into the ocean. The soundtrack to your daily grind has arrived.
