R&B artist JYDN HILL reflects on a past relationship on “Shame On You” [Premiere]

Solidifying his reputation as an innovative artist, R&B singer and songwriter JYDN HILL releases his new single “Shame On You”. A beat-heavy, whirring single written about past toxic relationships, HILL’s honeyed vocals are sickly sweet, and paired with visuals from The 97.Collective, it’s a cinematic production.

A groove-laden, gooey single featuring captivating melodies, HILL’s self-reflective lyricism of personal experiences are transformative. Penning the tune post-relationship, the single draws on his emotions to produce a narrative that reveals a partner who gives you nothing despite promising the world. “It’s crazy how people can be out here in relationships acting slimy, while projecting all of their dirty laundry onto you as if you’re the problem,” HILL explains. “I had to deal with a lot of lies, unnecessary drama and projecting over the course of 4 years.”

“There were always complaints whenever I was at the studio late or travelling overseas for writing camps; and when good things in my career started to happen, I really felt like the love was disingenuous. So when I was in the studio that day I had to get a lot of things off my chest, and the song came about very quickly,” he continues.

A silky smooth R&B number, “Shame On You,” thrives in its Take Care Drake era sultriness. Emitting real seductive but vengeful vibes, the single and it’s visuals acts as public retribution to the person who did HILL wrong.
