Speech Debelle deals in hope in “Come Your Way”

Multi-faceted musician Speech Debelle first came on the scene in 2009 with her debut album Speech Therapy, which earned her the coveted Mercury Prize British Album of the Year. She followed this up with her sophomore album Freedom Of Speech in 2012 and now she returns with her new effort “Come Your Way” which is taken from her forthcoming album, Sunday Dinner on a Monday. The track is a summer-tinged genre-fusing track that blends pop, and R&B with a dash of her distinct lyrical style that is steeped in culture and a dash of introspection. She dwells on the growing pains of learning to love and forgive in an unforgiven world where nothing is certain. Her lyrics are quite positive and implore listeners to take it in stride and not overthink life as it is. Lines like “longtime friends can disagree, it ain’t always your show, the road less travelled got the biggest lesson/ sometimes to expand, there’s growing pains“, give us a reason to trust the process and leaves us with something to grow on.

“Come Your Way” is taken from Sunday Dinner On A Monday, a project tat examines family, friends, lineage, and ancestral DNA through the lens of afro-futurism.
