Julien Bracht explores the power of pure techno on “Rave Flower”

From being one half of an indie post-rock duo to quickly becoming a rising star in the Berlin techno scene, Julien Bracht has just dropped the emphatic, power-driven Rave Flower via his own imprint System Records. A melodic journey from start to finish, Bracht pieces together his immaculate ability to create refreshing techno rhythms. You can hear throughout the project, an artist with a deep love for analogue synthesis and production – working from his studio in Berlin, Bracht creates his uniquely powerful acid techno with his Dave Smith: Prophet 6 synth and a selection of classic Roland machines.

Throughout Rave Flower – Julien Bracht demonstrates why you should watch one of his DJ sets. The sound develops from start to finish, with ecstasy-driven moments, euphoric sounds and thunderous techno rhythm that remind you of the old school raves. The four-track EP kicks off with “Across The Ocean”, a track that develops from start to finish with classic techno rhythms created by the famous Prophet 6 which brings out this true nostalgic electronic energy that’s often heard on a Todd Terje or Palms Traxx song. This is followed with the more acid squelching sound of “Don’t Chase Your Enemies”, a thunderous sound with a more acid techno style. This four-to-the-floor techno track is peppered with alienated sounding bass-synth sequencers and eerie sounding rim shots. There are plenty of hands in the air moments, a particular favourite being the breakdown in the euphoric “Rave Gene”.

Speaking on the new EP, Bracht writes “This is my first new work on music, since I released my debut album ‘Now Forever One’ last year. I really wanted to make the transition back to the ‘dancefloor past‘ that I had before I formed the band Lea Porcelain. This is my way of expressing my personal rave with my very clear production of layered emotional synth patterns and pads. The EP is made for the right “rave” moments and I was definitely inspired by big room raves from the 90s and 2000’s.” He adds, `I put all my energy and love into this EP and I’m thankful for you to listen to it and maybe include it into your own personal “rave” moment in your sets in a club or home only with yourself. Have fun with it!

Flower Rave is out now on all streaming platforms.
