Katherine Abbott shares her “Lullaby for Lucas” in celestial new single

UK singer/songwriter Katherine Abbott has soaked up the best of some of the most culturally rich countries in the world – from India to New Zealand, her travels have taken her to places outside of the tourist guides and it’s there where she has found inspiration for her mesmerizing songs. “Lullaby for Lucas” is just one of her many stories, based on a man she met whilst walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Abbott sings about compassion and the importance of never judging a book by it’s cover, a message which couldn’t come at a more poignant time.

Abbott’s bewitching sound, transports listeners right to the very place she met Lucas, emmanting the feeling of the sun on our skin through her warm guitar and hazy instrumentation. Her music reaps similarities of the likes of Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake, while delivering her own stamp of breezy folk. Her graceful vocals portray true emotion and sentiment, giving further depth to her songwriting. “Lullaby for Lucas” was written with the intention of bringing a more respectful mindset to people, reminding them to be cognizant of others, as we never know what they have been through. Abbott confides in her press release, “Lucas was an opera singer in Vienna but had lost his voice and had taken to living a nomadic existence. We had a jam in a bar one night and he tried to sing but his voice just came out as this croak which brought him to tears.”

Recognizing the true power of music and it’s therapeutic abilities, Katherine Abbott hopes to continue creating music with meaning, one song at a time.
